AIU Health Science Center has five colleges: College of Medicine, College of Dentistry, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing and College of Health Professionals. In addition to the basic education in the classroom setting, students will have the opportunity to learn through interacting with various colleges, hospital departments and patients. Further, AIU Health Science Center is committed to create a diverse student body to promote an international camaraderie among students. AIU Health Science Center Colleges focus on training professionals in the field of Healthcare. College of Medicine offers a 6-year program leading to Doctor of Medicine (MD) Degree. College of Dentistry offers a 5-year program leading to Doctor of Dentistry (DMD) Degree. College of Pharmacy offers a 4-year program leading to Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Degree. College of Nursing offers a 4 year program leading to Bachelor of Nursing Science (BSN) Degree with Honors courses available in the field of Anesthesia, Perioperative, Psychiatry, Gynecology, Obstetrics and Midwifery and Pediatrics. For students who are Registered Nurse (RN), we have a 2 year BSN Honors Program. College of Health Professionals offers Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree specializing as Medical Laboratory Technician and Dental Assistants. Admission to the five colleges are open to students who have successfully completed High School. The clinical experience is imparted at various medical institutions and clinics in The Gambia.
AIU offers curricula patterned after the US programs and is designed to meet the licensing requirements in the United States of America and other countries. Only a limited number of students shall be admitted every trimester to ensure a small student/faculty ratio and to allow for optimum faculty interaction with students. Further, all faculty members are highly qualified and experienced professionals and teachers.
