STUDENT VISAS
 

As an international student or foreign national, you will generally need a visa for any length of time. Student visas are issued and regulated by Ministry of Interior and NGO Affairs, The Gambian Immigration Department. The process of obtaining a Student visa to study in The Gambia depends on the nationality of the student There are general requirements to gain entry into The Gambia, in addition to the specific requirements of each foreign national. In general you must be:

  1. Healthy - Inoculations are required to enter the Gambia.
  2. Law-abiding - Criminal behavior is grounds for deportation.
  3. Able to support yourself financially during your stay.
  4. You intend to leave The Gambia after you complete your studies.

STUDENTS FROM ECOWAS COUNTRIES:

The fifteen (15) West African States that constitute ECOWAS

The Republic of BENIN The Republic of LIBERIA
BURKINA FASO The Republic of MALI
The Republic of CABO VERDE The Republic of NIGER
The Republic of COTE D'IVOIRE The Federal Republic of NIGERIA
The Republic of GAMBIA The Republic of SENEGAL
The Republic of GHANA The Republic of SIERRA LEONE
The Republic of GUINEE TOGOLESE Republic
The Republic of GUINEE BISSAU  

Students from ECOWAS countries listed above are required to pay 1,100 Dalasis (approximately US$ 40) per year for the duration of their full time studies at the University.

STUDENTS FROM NON ECOWAS COUNTRIES:

Students from all Non-ECOWAS countries are required to get approval from The Gambian Immigration Department to travel to The Gambia. The University can obtain the approval on behalf of the student by paying a fee of 1000 Dalasis (approximately US$ 36) prior to the student's arrival in The Gambia. Upon arrival, at the point of entry, the student shall be issued a student visas on payment of 1100 Dalasis (approximately US$ 40) to the authorities.
